Workshop

  • Design and Smartly Deploy Sustainability & Decarbonisation Features in Science, Engineering, and Technology Education

The theme of this highly interactive workshop is to strengthen and enhance knowledge and skills required for reviewing, designing, redesigning, and restructuring curriculum for infusing sustainability and decarbonisation features. This practice-oriented workshop centres around assessing the current situations, scenarios, and future directions in the domain of sustainability in science, technology, and engineering education. The benefits of systematic adaptation through sustainable development goals (SDGs) and environmental, social & governance (ESG) mechanisms are highlighted. How the designed curriculum can be developed and smartly deployed using digital tools and techniques is demonstrated during the workshop. Participants will, skilfully, be able to apply knowledge and experience gained through an award-winning mobile App to track their consumption-related carbon footprint. The designed curriculum can then be very useful for developing strategies for further reducing their carbon footprint on regular intervals. Furthermore, they can learn how institutions can engage their stakeholders like students, faculty members, management, supporting staff, parents, and community to identify key decarbonization opportunities and leverage on digital tools and techniques. Key challenges in the implementation of the designed curriculum will also be outlined. What strategies can be appropriately adopted and adapted to overcome challenges are deliberated and discussed.
